Crimes

Breaks into the body through ingestion of tiny oocysts (egg-like structures) from cat poop in soil or water, or tissue cysts in undercooked meat. Once inside, it hijacks your cells and can travel to the brain.

Hang-outs

Thrives in cat intestines, but its survival structures can linger in soil, untreated water, and undercooked meat—just hanging around for a new host!

Danger

Linked to neurological changes, risk-taking behaviour, and severe complications for unborn babies and immunocompromised individuals.

Protection

Wash hands after gardening or handling litter, cook meat thoroughly, and avoid untreated water. Pregnant? Extra caution is essential.
